The beginning of the work week tends to be a point of stress for most of us. It needn't be. Not because I have the magical cure for all those personal or professional deadlines and commitments (if you do though, please call me!), but because in a good majority of the cases, it's our doing that creates the stress.
Indulge me for a minute for the following thought exercise (and if you have time to read this on a Monday, you have the minute to spare):
The crazy deadline your boss set is due in 2 hours. That is the situation. Our concern about the consequences should we fail to live to that deadline is what creates the stress (e.g., upset boss, unhappy clients, bad performance review, questionable bonus, lost job - trust me, our minds are brilliant at overdrive). The same situation may elicit a very different response in a colleague. So essentially, stress is simply our minds not being kind to us given various situations. Best response? Don't think! Trust me, much harder to do than say.

Wishing you happiness this Monday.
